Kirk's Got the Crazy

Nobody does crazy as good as Vincente Minnelli. Yes, it's easy to talk about why--but that's a cheap shot. Talk about how instead! I've long loved "The Cobweb" and the drapes (never mind Oscar Levant) but then there's "Two Weeks in Another Town," which, as in all good loony Minnelli films, starts off with a BANG and only gets nuttier.

Imagine if he did "Suddenly Last Summer" or "The Snake Pit" in glorious color with a cast full of character actors! He's like Douglas Sirk going to the department store on Thorazine and acid.

Yes, I did watch it captions. How could I not?

Gnash away, Douglas! Chew that scene, that's why we love you.
(it reads: "Now that you're nothing, I still hate you.")

"I hated you when you were a star. No that you're nothing I still hate you."

At least he's consistent.

Every scene in this movie is just delicious. It's almost as good as The Oscar.
