Even though I'm a picky eater, I've always wanted to eat at an automat. Closest I've gotten is this vending machine in Hoag Hospital's cafeteria. It has all sorts of foods like sandwiches, apples, etc on these rotating shelves.

Me too! The automat always looked so exotic! I do remember (very hazily, of course) that in Amsterdam in the 80's there were automats with cakes and pastries in them.. Now I think about it, Amsterdam would need 24-hour access to sugar-based food!
