"Stay Up or Stay Dumb!" is the most crytic saying I've ever heard. It would take Noam Chomsky or Norm Crosby to decipher it.
I'm not going to question what it means...I think I'll stay dumb and just enjoy the groovy graphics!
The meaning is in the misuse. This movie was based on a Robert Mitchum and Lila Leeds (the smoochy, druggy star of the show) drug bust, which ended her career and resulted in a stint in the slammer. Allegedly. Smooch.
I loved on the street where the bust took place - Ridpath Drive - for one summer. I didn't know it at the time, though, otherwise I would have taken pictures!
