Not so strange. The idea is in areas where there's snow wearing white is both a bad idea - you might blend in if you fall into a drift - plus white would get dirtier faster, and just in bad taste cause you're reminding people of the snow.
But if you live in a place where there's no snow, there's no reason to not wear white. Like I live in Southern California near the beach so you see white all year round.
If you live in New York, however, you can't wear white after labor day.
Eve once told me something hilarious about white after Labor Day that I've been laughing about for over ten years but maybe I should lreve it to her......
I believe another fashion rule is that wearing blue and green at the same time is only acceptable if one is sporting a kilt or a Catholic school uniform.

YES!!!
Pepper Anderson, I love you.
This post makes me thirsty.
But are you allowed to drink it after Labor Day?
If you live in places where there's no snow the white after labor day rule does not apply.
How do I need to see to be Ms.Dickinson's hairdresser??? What a gorgeous LADY!
No snow so you can wear white? How strange are your American customs:-)

The only person who can give better "Yes" is Frank Nelson!
But unlike Frank (and as much as I love him), Angie can have me anytime she wants!
Er, I mean, she still looks like that, right? Aww, who cares! she's still warm!

Forget the fashion rules (never thought I'd say THAT!). Who would ever drink straight VERMOUTH? YUCKY! Oh, Angie!
Well, that's Martini and Rossi white wine, isn't it? My mother used to drink their vermouth when I made her martinis!
My Ma is a vodka and tonic person. I got her a bottle of Grey Goose for Mother's Day.
