I get the prostitute part. And we know she gained a whole 17 pounds for the part - now, that's acting! And it must make her look like an average woman.

Yeah I don't get it. Fake Fergie the pant pisser can't even sing. Why is she being put into a musical? That would be like putting Stephen Hawking on the LA Lakers. (Sorry, Steve. But you have to admit I'm right.)
Though Stephen would probably be a better basketball player then Fergie makes a singer.
I can't stand Fergie. She can't sing and she isn't even hot to me. I don't see why some people go so crazy for her.
Rob Marshall has a bigger challenge on his hands than Fergie. He has to make Nicole Kidman look like an actual human being. I've only seen Fergie once; when I was channel-surfing and saw her singing in the re-make of The Poseiden Adventure: how I miss Maureen McGovern (sigh).
And anyway: Fellini cast really interesting-looking people in his films. No Hollywood director is going to do that. If Rob Marshall was going use the Fellini principle, he would have made "Chicago" with Bebe Neuwith and Ute Lemper.
Kidman may not "look human" but at least she has a pinch of talent.
I always wonder when I see these lousy casting choices if a letter writing campaign couldn't get them to change it. After all, it was calls all across the internet for SLJ to say "I'm sick of these mother-fucking snakes on this mother-fucking plane" that got that line into Snakes On A Plane. Maybe we could get Fergie kicked out of the roll?
Granted, his best choice after that would be Susan Boyle but at least she's the right body type and she can actually sing!
I'd put myself up for it but I look too young and don't do accents so well.
Oh man how sad... not Fergie, I'm sorry I just cannot take her seriously.
